Angola: World Health Day Marked on Saturday

Luanda — The World Health Day was celebrated on Saturday, April 07, in light of the date established in 1948 by the World Health Organisation (WHO), due to the concern of its members in warning the population on the main problems that might affect them.

According to the WHO, "Health is not only being sick. Health is more than this, it is being well physically, mentally and socially".

In a message on the occasion of the date, disclosed last year, WHO's regional director for Africa, the Angolan Luís Gomes Sambo, considers that "in our region, vigilance of the resistance to medicines is limited to some countries, something that results in the availability of data that are incomplete on the true extension of this problem".

Gomes Sambo urges governments to draft and implement policies and strategies of medicines that take into account the threat of the resistance to medicines, so as to curb the evolution and likely spreading of resistance germs.
