Second National Operator, Globacom has announced a successful
partnership with the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social
Development in organizing the first National Retreat on Women
Development, Peace and National Transformation.
The retreat which holds between today and Saturday, at the Le
Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort, Ibom, Akwa Ibom State, is being
organized in partnership with the First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience
Goodluck Jonathan.
Globacom said that its attraction to the partnership, apart from
patriotism, was the theme of the retreat: “Galvanizing, Empowering and
Energizing Women as change Agents for National Transformation,
Peace and
Development: A Win-Win Option” .
Glo, which is the main sponsor of the retreat, said it was delighted
to back a platform meant to evolve more balanced gender participation at
all levels of leadership in the country as well as mentor the next
generation towards peace and transformation. It added that the theme of
the event was apt and very crucial at this stage of Nigeria’s
development.
Among those expected to speak at the event are Senate President,
David Mark; Dame Patience Jonathan; Nobel Laureate, Leymah Gbowee of
Liberia, Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and World Bank’s Vice
President for Africa Region, Oby Ezekwesili.
