2015: Jonathan is qualified to contest – PDP boss
He disclosed that the South South zonal secretariat of the PDP is relocating to Edo State for the July 12 governorship to ensure that the party clinches the poll.
According to him, the PDP needed complete South South states to ensure a second term Presidency for President Goodluck Jonathan by 2015.
President Goodluck Jonathan, he said, though has not expressed interest in the 2015 presidential race, he is qualified like any other Nigerian for the race.
He said, “it is important for the ruling PDP to have a hundred per cent domination in the home region of the President with a victory in the governorship poll in Edo State.”
Mr. Oru, who led the zonal executives of the PDP to the inauguration of the Bayelsa executive council of the party in Yenagoa, said the party in the region is focused on the governorship poll in Edo and will temporarily relocate to Benin City ahead of the election due to the importance attached to the state and the second term of the President.
“We are committed to winning Edo State, with a view to getting full support for Jonathan 2015 re-election bid,” he said, adding that the PDP remains the largest party not only in Nigeria, but also in Africa, with better prospects for promoting the welfare and interest of the masses”.
