OOU crisis: VC denies N30m allegation, appeals to striking workers
Vice Chancellor, of the Ogun State owned Olabisi OnabanjoUniversity (OOU), Ago-Iwoye Prof. Wale Olaitan has denied the allegation of 30 million misappropriation,saying, he can account for every kobo spent on behalf of the institution .The V C however appealed to the striking Non Academic Staff Union of the institution to resume work to pave way for the dispute to be resolved amicably.
The workers had alleged that the VC misappropriated N30 million spent on the renovation of his lodge and in a bid to press home their demand, they began strike action on Friday, March 16 insisting that,they would not call off the strike until their unpaid N3.2 billion salary arrears is paid.
But the school management team debunked the allegation, assuring that they were ready to account for every kobo spent on behalf of the institution.
The institution’s Spokesman, Mr. Sam Oyeleye who spoke on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Wale Olaitan pleaded with the aggrieved workers to show understanding since the present administration inherited the financial crisis and other related problems confronting the institution.
